Spring has nearly sprung! Here the snow has almost all melted (for now) and the sun was shining brightly over us this past weekend. This has inspired me to get excited for the season that gets everyone hopping!
A variety of colours can be used to brighten up your palette for the much anticipated spring season ahead including Emerald Green. Did you know that Emerald Green was announced earlier this year as the
Pantone Colour for 2013? Although green
is one of my favourite hues, I tend to go for more toned down greens, but nevertheless this shade of green is a beautiful jewel tone.
As always, accent cushions and throws are a fabulous, inexpensive way to
switch up your decor when the weather turns. Butterfly and bird prints are popular mascots for the season that takes us from dragging our heels in the wet, cold slush to rejuvenating life around us and putting a bounce back into our step.
I found these owls at the Interior Design Show in Toronto back in January as they stood on guard in the
Urban Barn booth. My sister Karen is obsessed with owls, are you?

The spring collection has been released from Urban Barn and you can see it here. Despite having a more muted colour palette in comparison to the bright colour of the year, Emerald Green, one thing remains the same: All colours go great with the current favourite neutral - Gray.
Here's a room that encompasses all three colours in their collection along with deep purple accents. The palette still feels fresh and the colours go so beautifully together. I especially love the
contrast between the wasabi coloured soft pillows and the rich purple lamp & throw.
If you warmed to the 'tangerine tango' that was last years pick from Pantone, here are some beautiful bursts of colour from the decorating hub of
Pottery Barn.
The onset of Spring has my mind thinking ahead to the
Aberfoyle Antique Market. Sometimes I forget just how much I've missed the hunt for second hand treasures until the season pops around again. To get you in the mood, see below for an empire styled dresser that has been injected with new life simply by a bold coat of paint.
