Thanksgiving table decorating ideas and more

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year.  Reconnecting with friends & family as well as sharing memories and making new ones, reminds us about what matters most in life.   It is also the ideal opportunity to decorate your ~delicious decor~ in fabulous fall fashion.

This vignette encompasses many organic and textural details that I love about fall decor

Make a Grand Entrance

Your front door and porch is where you welcome your guests and set the tone for what they can expect once inside. So be wary, the more lavish the design and details, the higher the expectations may be for their Thanksgiving meal!

So many ideas here, it's all in the details.

For example, notice the differences in the way these front porches are decorated?  In the above vignette there are various decorative items. Overall it feels very cosy and inviting.  

Whereas the porch below is more simplistic yet meticulous in the details of the design.  Note the neatly placed golden apples above the door, the carefully painted and displayed pumpkins as well as the attractive ornament on the front door.    

Great contrast with the black and white.

It's not to say that one is better than the other, but just different and often indicative of ones personality as well as their decor style.  I personally prefer the first one, with its many textures and natural look with the leaves scattered on the porch. But the second one is pretty too!

Setting the Table

Once your guests walk through the front door, why not wow them with some of these fun and fabulous decorating ideas for dressing up your table. 

Spray paint pumpkins white to play down and modernise your colour palette

The leaves on the creamy napkins are a nice touch

These florals work on a buffet table, not so much for the actual dining table though.

This boxed display is so warm and festive.

Glass vases and jars are aways great accessories.

What would a posting of mine be without including some marvellous mason jars?!

These mason jars above appear to be painted in rich warm colours that complement the flowers and berries within them.  There are so many ideas for repurposing these little wonders, they really are handy to keep extras of them around the house.  See this post where I showed you how they could be used for wedding decor as well.

Decorating Ideas for Fall

Autumn is my favourite season due to the stunning colour transformations that take place around us. 

 

Nature can be so breathtaking and beautiful.

 

My daughter Elise asked me if we could get out the fall decorations soon & I think I got  more excited about it than she did! That is our project for the week and here are some inspirational fall decorating ideas if you are thinking of doing the same.  

 

Pretty Ideas that are Quick and Easy   





Various fall colours allow you to mix things up easily



In the above vignette the cloth that the items are displayed upon is natural and unfussy.  The glass gives an unexpected touch of class while the swirled vine adds an interesting element.  

 

So simple and pretty

All you need here is a decorative bowl, baby pumpkins and ribbon.

I like the texture of the dried leaves, the unusual vase and the pop of colour provided by the pumpkin.

At first glance I wasn't overly crazy about this decoration piece in the above photograph. However, I kind of like it now and it's so easy to do.  What do you think?  Click here to visit my facebook page and leave a comment telling me what your thoughts are about this little guy. 



If you do something like this, spacing is the key to getting it balanced in an eye pleasing way.

Filling lanterns with fall decor items such as pumpkins, leaves, nuts, pine cones or gourds is an easy way to reflect the change of the season and when winter comes, swap them out with Christmas items.

 

Notice the contrast with the deep dark lanterns and brightly coloured decor within them.

A few ideas for Decorating your table for Thanksgiving

I'm sure like me, you are all busy getting ready for Thanksgiving and enjoying this wonderful summer weather we are having.  Therefore, this is a quick post to show you some ideas I found for decorating your table (if you have been given the honour of hosting) for Thanksgiving this year.

A soft colour palette with detailed finishing touches. Tall candlesticks make for a more traditional look.

Napkins placed on each plate with a leaf & delicately tied is an easy way of making each setting festive.

With little effort, these make a great centre piece that look fabulous.

With these cute name cards your guests will know where to sit & 'gobble' their meal. If you are having a lot of people I would suggest putting your guests full name on each card to ensure there is no confusion when its time to for them to take their seats.

I thought this was a cute way of setting the table for the young ones. The crayons in the hat are a great touch and keeps the kids busy between courses or waiting for the meal to arrive.
